You asked for this one. Since the 2024 run ended, the request that has come into our inbox more than any other, usually in nearly the same words, has been: bring Cortex back.

They're coming back. September 13 through October 22 — nineteen cities across the US, Canada and Mexico, with Adrian Younge and J.Rocc on most of the bill.

Most of America met this band through MF DOOM. "One Beer" came out in 2004 on a loop Madlib and J Dilla had originally built for Jaylib, and the loop came from a French jazz-funk group nobody over here was talking about yet. Two decades and 220-odd documented samples later, Alain Mion is the most sampled French artist in history.
